IMPJ Chairperson Yair Lootsteen at the Conference of Presidents

‏יום שני ‏17 ‏פברואר ‏2020

"Dear friends – Erev Tov!

Mr. Hoenlein – thank you for your kind introduction. I am here this evening to welcome you in the name of my friend Danny Atar, the Chair of Keren Kayemet L'Yisrael, who is unable to join us as he fell ill this afternoon. He sends you all his best regards and a hearty "Bruchim Habayim".

IMPJ Chairperson and KKL Vice Chair Yair Lootsteen addressing the Conference of Presidents on behalf of KKL

"The clip you just saw provides a wonderful example of the vision which we at KK"L – Keren Kayemet L'Yisrael have for the future of Israel and our exciting plans to bring 1.5 million new residents to the Galil and the Negev by 2040. We look forward to partnering with you to bring that vision to fruition.

"As Mr. Hoenlein noted, aside from my capacity as Vice Chair of KK”L, I also serve as the Chair of the Reform Movement here in Israel.

Mr. Yair Lootsteen with Executive Vice Chairman of the Conference of Presidents Malcolm Hoenlein

"In the audience I see many, many good friends and partners, including Rabbi Rick Jacobs and Rabbi Marla Feldman.  In my two roles as an Israeli lay leader I acknowledge daily the importance of strong, long standing, honest and mutual relations, between our Israeli society and North American Jewry and its leadership.

Clockwise from the top: Mr. Yair Lootsteen, IMPJ Chairperson and KK"L Vice Chair; Rabbi Rick Jacobs, President of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ); Rabbi Marla Feldman, Executive Director of Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ); Susan Bass, President of the WRJ.

"Together with my friends and colleagues at Keren Kayemet L'Yisrael and in the other National Institutions, representing ALL segments of the Zionist movement, I strongly believe in the need to protect and nurture these relations in these days and in the years to come, in a way that celebrates our diversity but also strengthens our unity.

Thank you all for what you are doing for the State of Israel.

Enjoy a wonderful conference.

Todah Raba.

Thank you and Erev Tov."
