The Jewish culture is a culture of the book, and learning is a defining characteristic of Jewish communities. We, at the Movement for Progressive Judaism, aim to deepen our knowledge and enhance our familiarity with the Jewish book shelf, and learning sessions about the Jewish sources frequently take place in our congregations as part of our Batei Midrash, or Houses of Learning.
The Batei Midrash in our congregations desire to renew Jewish learning through an open and equal dialogue as well as a shared study and consideration of the texts of the Jewish people. The doors of our Batei Midrash are open to every man and woman-including young adults-from every sector of society. These Houses of Learning possess an open-minded approach to learning and aim to inspire in their participants creativity and a search for a common Jewish cultural basis on which the Israeli public-in all of its different streams-may rest.
Below is a list of the places in which our Houses of Learning and special programs associated with them operate.
